I am raising funds in honor of my son, Austin, who I lost to an overdose. Austin left behind a daughter . He was an amazing dad. Austin was a very hard worker who started working when he was just 14. He had a big heart, would have given the shirt off his back, and had a smile that lit up the room. He loved his mama more than anyone in the world and only wanted the best for me.
Austin had been incarcerated for three years and had only been home for three weeks when he got caught up in the moment. I am now over two years clean from the same drug I lost him to, and that is a big part of why this matters so much to me. I want people to understand that after clean time, your tolerance is not the same. I do not want other families to go through what I have been through.
The funds from this fundraiser will go toward a $3,000 billboard that shares Austin's picture and story. I also want it to honor other loved ones lost to overdose, provide treatment center information, and highlight the risks of relapse, especially after time away. My hope is that someone will see it, reach out, and seek treatment before it is too late.
I would like to have the billboard up by August 31, National Drug Overdose Awareness Day. If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would help me honor Austin's life while raising awareness that could inspire others and possibly save lives. Thank you for supporting me and helping keep my son's memory alive in a way that may help someone else.
