About Austin
Austin Ramos passed away Saturday, February 12th, 2022. He was 19 years old.

Austin was born in Newark, DE on October 19th, 2002 but lived most of his life in Pottstown, PA until he recently left to attend West Chester University. Austin had aspirations of majoring in Psychology, completing a doctorate program, and one day opening his own private practice. He wanted to help people.

Austin was a graduate of Pottstown High School where he was an accomplished student. He was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with honors in 2021. He made the dean’s list while completing 28 college credits in his last two years of high school which helped him earn multiple scholarships.

Austin was successful inside and outside the classroom. He was active in the school’s musical theater program and recently acknowledged the opening night of “Hairspray”, where he played the male lead character, as the highlight of his high school experience. Music, both in the theater and outside of it, was one of his greatest passions.

One of Austin’s other passions was playing hockey and helping children learn and enjoy the sport. He played DEK Hockey for 10 seasons. He was also a coach and a referee for younger DEK Hockey players in the Pottstown and Reading communities.

In everything Austin did, he made a positive impact on those around him. His kindheartedness and positive attitude left the world better than he found it. His greatest accomplishment will always be the joy he brought to those that loved and knew him.

About Austin's Memorial Fund
This is the family's official memorial fund for Austin and it is set up so that all of us whose lives were enriched by him can give back and honor his memory.

My name is James Shockley-Temple and I realize that many of you don't know me. I'm Austin's uncle. Wil (Billy) Shockley-Temple is my husband. Crystal (Austin's mother) is Wil's sister.

His parents, Crystal and Stephen, asked me to set up this memorial fund to raise money so that we can properly honor Austin's memory. The exact plan for the money raised has not yet been determined. We didn't want to rush into such an important decision. We do know that our intent at this moment is for these funds to be used in three primary areas:

1) To promote youth sports and theater in the Pottstown community especially for those who lack the resources to participate
2) To support one or more non-profits that build awareness around mental health which was a pursuit of Austin's
3) To support the family's financial needs that may arise as a result of missed work or unexpected expenses

These funds will NOT be used for the funeral expenses as they have already been covered.

I will personally take full responsibility for making sure these funds are used in a responsible manner that is respectful of Austin's memory. Please contact me through this GoFundMe page if you have any questions about the memorial fund.
