Austins story:
Austin is a 22 year old boy. A very quiet, loving and caring person. Recently, Austin had emergency oral surgery on January 16, 2024 from his wisdom teeth, causing a severe infection in his gum. Austin started medication to clear the infection when he started complaining that his stomach was always bothering him and burning. He met with a GI doctor and had an endoscopy on January 26, 2024 that revealed what looked like 25 ulcers in the stomach and small intestines. They also noticed a lump on the left side of his neck. Tests showed that it was a lymph node measuring 3.6cm by 3.4cm and 2.0com in depth. Two days later on January 29, 2024 Austin ended up in the emergency room where they ran blood work, cat scans and ultrasound sounds. Tests came back that he had pancreatitis. So they admitted him. The following day, they did more tests, another cat scan and an ultrasound on his neck and a biopsy. Two days later his CT scans were showing signs of Lymphoma. Preliminary reports from all the biopsies front his stomach and neck came in and confirmed that Austin did have Lymphoma. That evening, February 1, 2024 they transferred Austin to Morristown Memorial Cancer Center to start very aggressive treatments. February 2, 2024, in the morning, the doctor had the final report from all the biopsies. Austin was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Hodgkins B-Cell & Burkitts Lymphoma. That afternoon, Austin started his 1st treatment of chemotherapy.
Austin will have to be in the hospital every 3 weeks for 5 days of chemo for 6 months. This will be a very long journey for both Austin and his family. His Mom, Jamie will have to miss work to be at his side when he is in the hospital and accompanying him to his doctor appointments. Your prayers are greatly appreciated.
