As many of you are already aware, my nephew Austin (age 11) has been going through some serious medical problems recently. He has had multiple strokes, seizures and he was already diagnosed with epilepsy prior to this.
Since March Austin has suffered from 4 larger strokes and multiple silent strokes leaving his doctors baffled and scrabbling for a cause. They have run countless tests, multiple procedures and have even reached out to doctors from around the country getting opinions. He was finally diagnosed recently with an incredibly rare condition known as Bow Hunters Syndrome which means when he turns his head a certain way he cuts off a artery causing clots to form which ultimately cause strokes. Along with the stroke he has daily symptoms such as headaches, dizziness and nausea. He has had countless stays in the PICU, multiple ambulance rides, critical care transports, gets daily blood thinning injections, sees multiple doctors from several different departments and even sees a specialist several hours away. His most recent stroke occurred on August 3rd when it was decided that at this point
surgery is the best option where they will go in and remove the artery causing all his problems.
As you can imagine, this has become a huge financial burden to my sister and brother-in-law. There are more procedures to be done, tests, therapy, doctor visits and his future surgery. With all of this of course comes medical bills. Austin has the most unique spirit, he can make you laugh like no other, and he is a true individual. He has been in such good spirits despite everything he has been through! They would never ask for money themselves but I can't sit by and let them carry the burden alone. So my mom and I decided to start this GoFundMe in order to help them as much as we can. If you are unable to donate, please send good thoughts and as always please keep Austin in your prayers.
