Curtains Up On My Dream - Aussie to Royal Academy of Music

Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
My name is Georgia Mercer, a young adult soprano from Australia who has been blessed with a once in a lifetime opportunity to fast track my dreams of becoming a world class performer: I have been offered a place in the Master of Musical Theatre program at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London, starting September 2025.

This is one of the most prestigious and respected performing arts schools in the world, with an incredibly selective admission process.
However, this excellence does not come cheap, and the difference between the British Pound and Australian dollar mean that the tuition fees as an international student are simply out of my reach.

Call to action
That is why I am hoping to find patrons passionate about the arts who might be willing to sponsor me in order to attend this renowned program.

History
A little about me:
My journey in the performing arts began in childhood. Music and singing has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I participated in every extracurricular music activity that I could.
When I finished high school, it wasn’t even a question for me – I pursued singing with a
determination to make it my career and was extremely fortunate to be accepted into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2020. This is the school where Australian performers like Hugh Jackman trained. I majored in Classical Voice and spent four years immersed in a rigorous program that shaped me not just as a singer, but as a complete performer. And of course, I took on many performing opportunities while studying.

Present
If you are a Brisbane local, you may have seen me in my most recent works as part of the
ensemble for Pirates of Penzance at Queensland Performing Arts Center (QPAC), or as Mary in
Queensland Musical Theatre’s production of Mary Poppins.

Now I’m at a critical point in my career. Some performers begin to slowly build a portfolio of
professional work but there are a lucky few who get the chance to be fast tracked. The Master of
Musical Theatre program not only gives students world leading tuition in performing arts, it also
provides crucial networking opportunities with production companies and directors at the
highest levels from around the globe. If you look into the training undertaken by the leading stars
on West End, you will find that a very significant number are RAM graduates.
It is my dream to be one of those stars.

Future
The total cost of the program is around AUD $48,000 for tuition alone, not including living
expenses in London. I’m now working to raise as much as I can through crowdfunding and other
sources of support.
Your support could make the critical difference between being able to seize this opportunity or
having to walk away from it.
If you’re in a position to contribute—no matter the amount—it would mean more than I can
express. Your donation will directly fund my education and living costs, allowing me to fully focus on my training and could catapult me into the next stage of my artistic journey.
In return, I am committed to sharing this journey with you – through regular updates while I study
in London and giving back when I return home by offering workshops and mentorship
opportunities for young performers across Australia.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for considering being a part of this next step. Your belief and support would mean more than words can express.

Kind Regards
Georgia Mercer
