Australia Medical Missionary

As many of you may remember, I took part in a short-term missions trip to Haiti in 2009. While serving, God put a huge desire in my heart to serve those who have high need and little to no resources. I left Haiti wanting to serve again in another country that was filled with poverty. But, at the time I was in school. God guided me through school even when there were many times I wanted to give up my schooling process to be a missionary. As many of you know, I finished school last year and I have been practicing as a Registered Dental Hygienist since September 2013. Thank you again for those of you who supported me throughout my intense but rewarding schooling.

Many years have gone by and I have continually prayed for God to show me how he wants to use me in this world that is full of so much pain and suffering. I knew coming back from Haiti that God was calling me to be a medical missionary. To not only provide health care to those who have never received it but most importantly to bring the gospel of Jesus. People need to feel that they are loved and have a purpose for their lives. And we are blessed to be a blessing!

I am pleased to announce that the time has come for God to send me out! I have applied and been accepted to take part in a mission organization called Youth With A Mission (also known as YWAM - pronounced “why-wham”). I will be taking part in a Medical and Marine Ship Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Australia. I will be gone for five months and during this time there will be two phases: lecture and outreach. During the lecture phase, I will be learning more about God and reaching His people. As well as volunteering with a local youth program and serving on a medical ship that operates along the coast of Papua New Guinea. On the ship there are clinics set up for Medical, Dental, Optometry, and Ophthalmology. The medical and dental need is greater than ever as there is one Dentist to 100,000 people in these communities. As for the outreach phase, this is to be determined at this time and will be decided once there as a team.
