Göttingen hat in der Nacht zum 11. September seine einzige verbliebene feste Open-Air-Bühne in der Innenstadt verloren. Die Bühne im Innenhof des Dots im Börnerviertel ist vollständig abgebrannt. Dach, Tragwerk, Technik, alles hin.

Wer in den letzten Jahren in Göttingen draußen Musik gehört hat, hat sie mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit hier bei uns gehört. Über 200 Konzerte, Lesungen, DJ-Sets und Kindertheater haben auf dieser Bühne stattgefunden, von lokalen Bands bis zu überregionalen Acts. Das Kinderprogramm des Kultursommers hatte hier seinen zentralen Ort. Das Stadtmarketing hat den Hof als Motiv benutzt, weil er zeigt, wie diese Stadt aussieht, wenn sie gut ist: voll, gemischt, offen, mitten im Fachwerk. Mitten in Herzen von Göttingen!

Das ist jetzt weg. Nicht für uns, sondern für alle, die hier Kultur machen und Kultur sehen wollen. Eine Innenstadt ohne feste Open-Air-Spielstätte ist ärmer, und es gibt keinen zweiten Ort, der einfach einspringt.

Warum es gebrannt hat, wissen wir nicht. Die Untersuchungen laufen. Wir können stand jetzt nichts sagen.

Der Hof selbst steht noch. Die Mauern, das Gelände, die Nachbarschaft, das alles ist unverändert da. Was fehlt, ist die Bühne. Und die kann man wieder bauen... und das werden wir tun. So schnell wie möglich.

Wofür das Geld ist:

• Neubau der Bühne inklusive Tragwerk und Überdachung

• Licht- und Tontechnik, komplett zerstört

• Elektrik und Anschlüsse für den Spielbetrieb

• Mobiliar und Bepflanzung im Hof

Was die Versicherung am Ende übernimmt, ist offen. Deshalb fangen wir jetzt an und nicht in sechs Monaten. Jeder Euro geht in eine Bühne, die wieder bespielbar ist, und zwar so schnell wie möglich.

On the night of September 11, Göttingen lost its only remaining permanent open-air stage in the city center. The stage in the courtyard of the Dots in the Börnerviertel burned down completely. The roof, the supporting structure, the technical equipment—everything is gone.

Anyone who has listened to music outdoors in Göttingen in recent years has most likely heard it here with us. Over 200 concerts, readings, DJ sets, and children’s theater performances took place on this stage, ranging from local bands to acts from beyond the region. The Kultursommer’s children’s program had its central venue here. The city’s marketing department used the courtyard as a motif because it shows what this city looks like at its best: crowded, diverse, open, surrounded by half-timbered buildings. Right in the heart of Göttingen!

That’s gone now. Not just for us, but for everyone who wants to create and experience culture here. A downtown without a permanent open-air venue is poorer, and there’s no other place that can simply step in.

We don’t know why the fire started. The investigation is ongoing. We can’t say anything at this point.

The courtyard itself is still standing. The walls, the grounds, the neighborhood—all of that remains unchanged. What’s missing is the stage. And that can be rebuilt… and that’s what we’ll do. As soon as possible.

What the money is for:

It remains to be seen how much the insurance will ultimately cover. That’s why we’re starting now, rather than in six months. Every euro goes toward making the stage ready for performances again—as quickly as possible.
