RAS Charity Week for Auryn
Donation protected
While the above notes that this fundraising is "in aid of Richard Day" - this is because Richard was authorised to withdraw the funds so that the partner contribution could be added to the final tally transferred to the trust fund. This transfer was initiated on 19 Dec 2020, and the withdrawal of funds to the trust has also been initiated
We have closed this fundraiser now and are in the process of transferring the funds. Thanks a million everyone for their support in this short fundraise. More anon. As of 18 Dec 2020.
Auryn is a five year old boy, and son of two of our PwC colleagues, Trish Gibbons (Assurance) and Barry Phelan (GTS). At the age of 4, Auryn was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects appropriately 10 children in Ireland a year.
After 14 months of isolation from school and friends and after extensive treatment, including 13 rounds of chemotherapy, two major surgeries, stem cell transplants and 14 rounds of radiotherapy - Auryn is in his last phase of treatment which will hopefully result in a clear scan later this year.
Unfortunately due to the rare nature of Auryn's cancer , there is a 70% chance of relapse. However an FDA approved Vaccine which is only available in the USA could reduce his chance of relapse to 5%. Just two days ago his parents successfully reached their target of €375,000 but they are not yet closed to donations for Auryn as there may be a further follow on vaccine and further treatment required. Any excess donations will be redirected by the trust fund to Irish Childhood Cancers.
We are asking you to consider being one of Auryn's Heroes by donating to give him the best chance to beat cancer once and for all. Your support will be forever appreciated and we would encourage you to share this campaign with your friends, family and colleagues.
