Aurora is having chemo and a stem cell transplant to provide her with a more positive and healthier life.
Aurora has got a Stat 1 mutation, inherited from me her mum. Meaning her life expectancy is only 30 and she is at risk of a whole heap of medical issues and of which some are fatal. She will have a lifetime of hospitalisation and pain constantly be playing Russian Roulette with life. She’s already developed Type 1 Diabetes in January of 2025 due to her Stat 1 attacking and destroying her pancreas. So the decision was made by a whole heap of medical Drs and lots of meetings. Like lots of them. To offer Aurora a stem cell transplant with a few to getting rid of the Stat 1 mutation. It will not get rid of her type 1 diabetes.
This also means Aurora will go through chemo and lose what was once her knee length golden blonde curly hair.
Aurora will also have an operation to remove her ovary to try and give her a chance of fertility when she’s older. As the chemo will make her infertile.
She is set to be in Manchester Children’s hospital for a minimum of 6-8 weeks then further isolation once home.
It’s a lot to deal with as a family as well as a huge financial burden. For example during hopsital only Aurora is fed. Me and her Dad will have to find ways to get food for us without hopefully getting takeouts for every single meal. As well as the petrol costs for how far we are from the hospital and the impact on both our jobs.
So many ask us what they can do to help and often my mind runs blank. This go fund me will be used for anything Aurora asks for or needs during her treatment or after. As well as any help with the financial aspects of her treatment.
in advance we as a family would like to thank each and every single one of you for your kindness and generosity.
