Aurèlie’s Paragliding Challenge

Hi,

My name is Aurèlie Dias, I am 12 years old and I am happy to reveal I am back with another ‘Challenge’ to help raise funds for our family friend ‘Sarah'.

For my last challenge in 2022 I climbed a mountain. This time, I am going to jump off one! (With a kite, of course!)

Sarah lives with many health conditions including Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. In some people; as is the case with Sarah, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, teeth, lungs, heart and blood vessels.

An autoimmune disorder, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body's tissues. Sarah is in constant pain and unable to get free medical help in South Africa.

Although Sarah and her partner both work, they are unable to cover the constant medical bills due to her illness. Sarah’s health has recently taken a turn for the worse, when after a stay in hospital in September this year, Sarah was diagnosed with heart failure. This was devastating news as Sarah is already dealing with so much, and is unable to take her RA medication whilst taking the medicine for her heart.

In February 2022 I climbed 'La Concha' Mountain in Andalucía, Spain, from Istan to the peek. It took 7 hours of climbing, but I was proud to have collected €2500.00 in total from my GFM page and face-to-face sponsors. I raised awareness for RA by appearing in the newspapers and on the Radio. I am hoping to do even better this time and am hoping to also appear on the TV.

I plan to paraglide from the top of a mountain in late November 2023. It will be a tandem jump with professional instructor and paraglider ‘Urubuparapente’. You can find him on instagram, he would love a ‘follow’.

I would like to reach €3K through both GFM donations and face-to-face sponsors and I hope that by doing this I am able to make a difference in Sarah's journey, whilst also raising much needed awareness of 'Rheumatoid Arthritis' and the pain it causes.

I believe I can make a difference and I am determined to raise as much as I can, but I need your help and support.

Para mi último desafío en 2022 escalé una montaña. ¡Esta vez voy a saltar de uno! (¡Con una cometa, por supuesto!)

Sarah vive con muchas condiciones de salud, incluida la artritis reumatoide. La artritis reumatoide es un trastorno inflamatorio crónico que puede afectar algo más que las articulaciones. En algunas personas; Como es el caso de Sarah, la afección puede dañar una amplia variedad de sistemas corporales, incluidos la piel, los ojos, los dientes, los pulmones, el corazón y los vasos sanguíneos. La artritis reumatoide, un trastorno inflamatorio crónico, se produce cuando el sistema inmunológico ataca por error los tejidos de su propio cuerpo.

Sarah sufre un dolor constante y no puede obtener ayuda médica gratuita en Sudáfrica. La salud de Sarah empeoró recientemente cuando, después de quedarse en el hospital para varios días, le diagnosticaron insuficiencia cardíaca. Esta fue una noticiamuy mala, ya que Sarah ya está sufriendo con muchas cosas y no puede tomar su medicamento para la rumetoide arteritis mientras toma el medicamento para el corazón.

Mi último desafío en febrero de 2022 escalé la montaña 'La Concha' en Andalucía, España, desde Istán hasta la cima. Me llevó 7 horas de escalada, Me sentí muy bien por haber recauadado 2500,00 € en total de la página de GFM y de los patrocinadores presenciales.

Espero hacerlo aún mejor esta vez y espero aparecer también en la televisión.

Planeo volar en parapente desde lo alto de una montaña a finales de noviembre de 2023. Será un salto tándem con el instructor profesional y parapente ‘Urubuparapente’ (lo puedes encontrar en instagram, le encantaría un ‘follow’)

Me gustaría alcanzar los 3.000 euros a través de donaciones de GFM y patrocinadores presenciales, y espero que al hacerlo pueda marcar la diferencia en el viaje de Sarah y, al mismo tiempo, generar conciencia sobre la "artritis reumatoide" y el dolor que produce.

Creo que puedo marcar una diferencia y he decidido recaudar todo lo que pueda, pero necesito su ayuda y apoyo.
