Please Help Our Mom

Hi everyone,

We created this fundraiser to help our mom get some of the medical assistance that she needs. Many of you don't know this, but after having her first seizure a year ago, she has been on an increasingly rough medical journey. On top of already having Rheumatoid Arthritis and other autoimmune issues, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Because she doesn't have health insurance, she hasn't been able to see a specialist to find out what type of MS she has and therefore, it isn't being treated. She applied for disability and Medicare in November of 2021 and is still going through that lengthy and frustrating process. She has applied for state insurance many times and keeps getting denied. She also tried to get insurance during the open enrollment period, but all of the plans were ridiculously expensive. All our mom can do is rely on her primary care, who she pays monthly, but there are limits as to what her doctor can do considering she isn't a specialist.

While our mom waits for insurance, her body is fighting an extremely tough battle. She is suffering from severe mobility issues, cognitive issues, vision trouble, incontinence, and the additional toll this is taking on her mental health. She is unable to drive or work and is isolated at home due to a compromised immune system. We are asking for donations to get some of the things she needs to improve her quality of life and help her maintain some sense of independence. She needs things like a lift chair, a shower chair, a walker with wheels, an elevated bed, handrails installed, a washer and dryer since she can no longer take her laundry to a relative's house, and her house cleaned and organized to make it more accessible.

It's very hard to see our mom like this considering she has always been a strong presence in our life and the life of others. She is the type of mother and person you call when you need anything and she would show up and do all she could. We want to return the favor and help her in whatever way we can.
