Aloha my name is Trisha Medeiros. I am one of many nieces and nephews of uncle Joe and Aunty Kathe Anderson. Uncle Joe and Aunty Kathe has been there from day 1 for all of us from Keiki days to us becoming adults and having children and ‘Ohana of our own. They are still, right where they always were, right next to us, to guide, nurture and fulfill spots that may have seemed empty to some. Some aren’t always privileged to have a parent or parents in their lives but because of aunty and uncle, we had a second set of parents that would be there, in a heart beat for us for any or no reason at all. Now, it’s time the tables turn and we hui for them with everything we got. Everyone’s worst fear…. Loosing the ones you love.
In the past few years, Aunty Kathe endured a lot. Late 2021 Aunty Kathe was diagnosed with cancerous tumors. She went through surgery and treatments and after battling, good news came and she was cancer free. Then the end of 2023 came and something no one wants to hear, Aunty Kathe’s cancer came back. She was strong, starting treatments again. Then, Wednesday May 15, 2024 Aunty Kathe had a stroke. Doctors ordered to send her to Oahu to do surgery to remove a blood clot in her brain. On her way to Oahu she had another stroke, a massive stroke. After getting to Queens medical center in Oahu, tests were ran and she had many more blood clots all over her body. She wasnt stable enough to do the surgery to remove the clot that they wanted to. Being that she has been having chemo treatments and has a weak immune system, doctors couldn’t treat her the way they planned. Aunty’s one wish if anything life threatening happened to her, was to be home. Being that doctors couldn’t do anything more, Uncle made sure that he fulfilled her wish. Aunty Kathe is now home. To get her home safely they needed transportation from queens, to the airport, onto a flight back to kona and more transportation to get home, all with a registered nurse by their side. Now that Aunty Kathe is home, she needs all the care she can get. Our priorities of course to take care of Aunty but we all know the financial side of it is all adding up and what was once managable for them, now isn’t. From on going hospital visits, doctor visits, treatments, making sure aunty could make it home and now in home care and much more, Aunty Kathe and Uncle Joe could use endless amounts of prayers in this difficult time but along with prayers, if you find it in your heart to help with any expenses, any amount would be greatly appreciated. If you can’t, even a share to family and friends would mean the world to Uncle Joe and Aunty Kathe.
