Aunty Lei Naipo Accident Fund
Donation protected
Aloha,
My name is Lena or Lenaboy Naipo. I am the husband of Lei Naipo. On August 14th Lei was on her way to work when she was involved in a head on collision just about three minutes from our home on the Big Island of Hawaii.
As a result she was rushed to the ER by EMS where they determined the extent of her injury was too great, so she needed to be transferred to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu via medivac.
Lei suffered extensive bleeding due to the trauma to her head and around her brain. She also suffers from a ruptured abdomen, a spinal concussion with fragments of bone stuck in her spine. A surgical procedure will be necessary to remove the shattered bones in her spine. She is currently in the ICU.
We believe that everything happens for a reason but our God is merciful even in these tragic times. We continue to trust in our God and lean upon him and each other to overcome this hardship.
The road to recovery will be long and challenging for both Lei and I. As reality starts to sink in, it is evident that Lei will be out of commission for awhile, even after hospitalization she will most likely need to endure physical and occupational therapy as well as adjust to life at home and at work while healing from her extensive injuries. Since Lei was the breadwinner of our household, the financial struggle will be our greatest struggle and while the medical bills and living expenses continue to flow in, her income will no longer be a resource for us.
We do have no-fault Insurance coverage but it will only cover a small fraction of Lei’s medical bills. Other financial help options like her “Paid Time Off” from work will be of assistance but it too will only cover a small portion of expenses. Not to mention my traveling back and forth to and from Oahu to be with her and assist in the hospital when she may need my help. We do not have any children so as her husband I am solely responsible and the only one able to assist her in any decision making. Thus my hope is to be there with her, by her side at Queen’s Hospital so I can be her voice when she needs my help.
In this time of hardship, we humbly ask for your help with our financial burden that will exceed over $200,000 dollars. If there is a way that you can make a financial contribution we would be blessed and so grateful. Any financial assistance, no matter the amount will be of great assistance to us and our needs. We thank you in advance for your kokua (help).
Lei looks forward to being well again so she can go back to the things she loves the most, especially to come back to our home in Waimea, Hawaii to be with her babies which are her pets: parakeets, lovebirds and dogs. Lei is a graduate of Kamehameha School, Class of 1972. We married in June 24, 1994 and we celebrated our 28 years of marriage this past June. Many of you may know that Lei has a love for dancing hula and performing, her experience goes back to dancing at Disney World, Maunalani Resort, various family gatherings and as a solo hula dancer for the group Kahulalani. She can’t wait to get back to dancing again. She is also been an employee of Hilton Grand Vacations Waikoloa for 30+ years.
We would both like to thank the first responders of Hawai’i County police and emergency crew as well as all the Doctors and Nurses for their God gifted talents in helping with Lei’s recovery. We we are truly blessed and grateful to have had the best care and outpour of love from so many of you since the accident. A very heartfelt Mahalo, thank you so much and God bless.
