Fred Massey Story

Fred Massey was unfortunately taken from us on January 16, 2022, leaving all who knew and loved him, devastated and very confused. To know Fred, was to love Fred. Fred lived life to the fullest! Fred was a gentle giant, always extending his unwavering honest support, constructive criticism, and life wisdom. Fred consistently guided us to be the very best we could be, accepting nothing less.

Many of us depended on Fred, because not only was he always fun to be around, and hilarious at all times; but he was also a loyal friend and leader. Fred prided himself on the relationships he built in and around the community with the owners of restaurants, and other venues. Everyone knew and loved Fred! Fred was known to be a "Go-to-Guy", when looking for events and things to do; when friends and family were coming to town, or just hanging out for the night. Fred loved making others happy and showing them a great time!

Fred also prided himself for his relationships he built with his friends and extended family. While Fred's communication style was unique, Fred would spend countless hours listening and guiding a friend or mentee to solve one of life's problems or challenges, coaching and following through every nuance or difficulty, then delighting in our own personal victories! Only in Fred style, could he lead us down a road of searching for ultimate truth of oneself, that went from trust, confusion, anger, and finally shock! However; in retrospection, realizing his mentorship, friendship, and leadership, uplifted and saved many of us from mediocrity, failure, and defeat. Fred respected and loved nothing more, than people who worked hard and would win, despite all of the odds. While Fred was definitely a "Guys Guy", Fred never discriminated with his communication style of always being honest and direct, regardless of person or situation.

Fred was an avid sports lover, and was well known in the community for his coaching, mentorship, knowledge, and camaraderie in the athletic community. Fred made it his personal mission to have his hand in all of his favorite sports. Fred was known to be seen at any athletic event; from amateur to professional sports; at any given time, day, or city. Fred's favorite sports included hockey (his first love), basketball, football, baseball, and boxing.

Fred loved and was very proud of his young mentees whom he coached while in there high school years. Fred was extremely proud he was able to see them grow into young men and become successful in there vision and dreams. Fred was also extremely proud of the relationship he formed with all of them as adults, and continued to boast of their accomplishments, continued friendships, and mentorship he had with them. They all were his sons! They all meant the world to him!

Fred lastly took on the challenge of becoming a full-time caregiver for his 89-year old mother, suffering from Dementia. While this proved to be the most challenging task for him; he followed his own ideology and advice of community support; extended family relationships, never giving up, consistency and dedication to the vision, and re-writing a life plan, instead of complaining when current plan was not working.

We will all miss you our dear friend......until we meet and laugh again!

Kindly, please help us with any donation for assistance with burial cost, memorial service, and continuing to provide care for his mother.
