It was Saturday morning when I got the call.    The call you hope you never get.  “It's an emergency; they are rushing him to the hospital...” That call. 

So I rushed to get there to find him in so much pain from getting hot tea splashed down on his entire right side and arm. He was screaming - I’ve never had to comfort this much pain in him before, but I know just being there helped him. 

On to the better news! He is on the mend. He has second degree burns on his chest and right arm, but they are on the more severe end of the scale. We went back on Monday to change the bandages - so painful - and August was the bravest kiddo. On Saturday they had to scrub his injury, and he still thanked the nurses when we left. While August is still laughing at Tina's and my awful jokes, we have to continually remind him to be gentle with his body as he tries to run around to get energy out. His attitude is unbeatable.


The unknown now is financial - we aren't sure what the bills will look like or if he'll need advanced care like occupational therapy (though the staff says that's not common with kids). So I'm reaching out to the village helping me raise my son. If you can, we'd appreciate any donation to help out. If you have questions, please reach out. On top of everything, I am also between gigs and struggling to pay bills, so any donations not directly used for medical costs will still help out (though we will update you as we hear more). I am grateful to have the time to spend at his side during this season.
