Hey everyone,
I wouldn’t normally do something like this but I figured trying and failing is better than not trying at all.
My sweet rabbit August is in need of a very urgent eye removal surgery on Monday. After being hit with a pretty bad eye injury/infection, she did not respond at all to the initial treatment of antibiotics and eye drops. Since that treatment, her eye has, to quote the vet, “started to disintegrate in her eye socket” and she needs to have it removed as soon as possible. The vet, who is a very skilled rabbit vet, said he’s “never seen anything like this before”.
While I have taken on responsibility of my pets, including their vet visits and costs, this eye injury has meant 3 vet visits in the last 2 weeks, multiple medications and now surgery. The surgery is estimated to cost around $1,700 which is $600 more than I was expecting. The costs are just racking up and I am falling pretty financially behind. I’m self-employed and while I do okay, I wouldn’t say I make a lot of money by any means. I have spent pretty much all of my income this month so far on vet bills and trying to stay on top of my other bills, leaving me with, well, not much left for the surgery.
Again, this is very uncomfortable to ask and I feel ashamed of myself, but I love August so much. She brings me so much joy and happiness, and her partner Sebastian is so in love with her. I am sick to my stomach that she has been unwell these past few weeks and I just can’t imagine losing her.
Even if I only raise $20, I would be eternally grateful and would love to repay everyone one day when I can.
Thank you for reading <3
