Memorial Fund for Augustin Taly Ruiz

Hi there it is surreal for me to be writing this and for you to be opening this page. We have lost a beautiful pure soul this week and with a heavy heart I ask, on behalf of his daughters, for your support.

Taly was a devoted, loving father who lived his whole life for his girls, Alexia and Suriyah. While taking care of his beautiful girls he also found the time and heart space to care for countless other children in his life. Making sure he checked in daily to inquire how they were doing and never forgetting a birthday. His friends and family were his priority and that showed in everything he did.

His heart yearned to be in Mexico. He talked with his sisters, who still live there, weekly. He would always brag about their beautiful dessert creations and dresses they made. He was so proud to be their brother and took a trip home whenever he could. "El Rancho" was where he truly felt like himself. He loved being in nature and on the back of an ATV. He always wanted to share where he grew up and the beautiful land they lived on, the delicious food they would make and the community and love he had there.

Taly had a joy for life that was unmatched. No matter the hardships, and there were many, he found a way to focus on the good and live each day with love and happiness. Wherever we went someone knew Taly and loved him. They would light up when they saw him walk through the door and then that smile would dwindle as he beat them in pool.

An absolute master of the pool table that man. I would always imagine what was going through his mind as he took a shot; the angles and possibilities flashing through his mind like a computer. I still remember the way his right hand would twitch until the very last moment when he would take his shot. Although he was a pool shark, I always "beat" him. I know he would let me win just be able to brag on me to everyone we played with. He was the absolute best.

Of course we can’t forget about Taly’s magic hands in the kitchen. I know everyone has enjoyed a meal made with love by him. He was so gifted with flavors and allowed us to experience his culture and heritage through his food. I remember asking about recipes and he would always act like it was so simple and easy. It was for him because he had pure talent and a way with food that blessed us all. Plus if you were ever pregnant or sick around Taly you know even more how he used his food to love and care for us. Never an empty stomach around him, so thankful for all those delicious meals over the years.

I have never felt so loved than I did with Taly and I know many of you share that experience. His love was never ending and open to all. He would have helped and cared for all of you in his life like he did me because that is who he was. He was a lover. He was a true friend. He was a dedicated father, brother, cousin, uncle, and son. He will be missed by so many.

One way we can continue his love for his girls is by giving them the small gift of financial support. By donating you will help take away the financial burden and allow them to fully grieve the loss of their dear father. Absolutely anything you can donate will accumulate and provide a world of difference for these sweet girls. They need us right now and I know you are ready to show them how loved their father was.

Thank you so much for loving Taly and supporting his family.

With love and gratitude,

Rachel Wilber

Muchos te vamos a extrañar.

Much as gracias por amar a Taly y apoyar a su familia.

Con amor y gratitude,

Rachel Wilber
