Peace Pod Montessori Launch

In the Harrisburg neighborhood of downtown Augusta, GA, families and staff from the former Westabou Montessori School are coming together to create the Augusta Montessori Learning Pod (Update, now called Peace Pod Montessori). When Westabou Montessori closed just six days before the start of the school year, dozens of families and children were left scrambling for options. In response, our community has united to ensure that quality, child-centered education remains accessible—especially for underprivileged families in our area.

The Peace Pod Montessori Learning Pod will serve up to 48 children, ages 2 to 12, providing a safe, nurturing, and hands-on environment where each child can thrive. Montessori education is at the heart of our mission because it meets every child where they are, nurturing intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. Our classrooms will be peaceful, trauma-informed, and equitable—especially important for children from diverse and challenging backgrounds. We believe in small group learning, flexible scheduling, and strong parent partnerships, all within a supportive community setting. This approach fosters confident, capable, and compassionate learners who are prepared for life, not just academics.

We are working to secure a learning space with the help of Good Neighbor Ministries and Saint Luke Church, and we have passionate, qualified teachers ready to guide our children. As a grassroots effort, we urgently need support for startup costs—classroom materials, Montessori supplies, facility agreements, and teacher salaries. Every donation will go directly toward creating a stable, inspiring environment for our children to learn and grow.
