Meet Augie, rescued from the Downey animal shelter and scheduled to go with 10 other German shepherds to Maine, where Miracle German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Maine has managed to find homes for hundreds of shepherds from high kill shelters in Los Angeles.  Augie was one of those picked for a new life in beautiful Maine. 

We agreed to foster him for 3 weeks before he would be transported with the other 10 shepherds and 8 other small rescue dogs. Augie is all love, with his worst trait being a counter surfer. 

The day before his transport, Augie had a cluster of grand mal seizures which left him hospitalized for 4 days.  Poor guy....and he missed his transport.  Re-learning to walk, becoming steady to potty, being able to hold his head still and not nose dive, working on chewing skills are just some of the things Augie needed to work on when he came home, but now he’s doing great! 

He is just about ready to make that road trip across the country and get into his forever home but because of his epilepsy, he can’t do a transport with a bunch of excited dogs, and needs a more calm experience, which costs quite a bit more than traveling with 18 other rescue dogs. 

Semi private road transport costs $1500.  Any extra money raised will go towards his vet bills (vet bills were over $5000)  

We expect him to be able to go in the next two weeks.
