Augusto “Augie” Fernandez’s Road to Recovery

On the evening of April 20th, Augusto “Augie” Fernandez was involved a tragic car accident. Augie was transported to Stony Brook Hospital from the scene, and remains there in critical condition. Although he has shown small positive signs in his road to recovery in the last couple days, due to brain swelling, there is very minimal that can be done for him at this time. Augie remains in a coma and has numerous broken bones to mend, surgeries to undergo, and rehabilitation in his future.
With everyone’s continued prayers and well wishes thus far, Augie has remained stable and has been weaned off some of the medication. He has also started to move his arms and legs.
Although his family did not want to ask for assistance, as his friends who have become family, we feel helpless and know that his road to recovery will be very long. Please know his family feels extremely grateful for the immense amount of messages, phone calls, food and gifts they have received during these heart wrenching and helpless days they’ve had to endure. We also cannot thank you enough for supporting them and sending them all the love and well wishes as we all could understand they are very much needed.
In these critical and trying times for Augie and his family, we have created this GoFundMe to support his local business, “Augie’s Barber Shop”, all out of pocket medical/rehabilitation expenses and his beautiful daughter until he is able to get back to work. We would greatly appreciate any donation, as nothing is too small.
