*** Unfortunately Amanda's lumpectomy and sentinal node excision has shown some invasive cancer cells within the lymph node. She now requires 4 rounds of chemotherapy to ensure there are no other cancer cells floating around and then will be undergoing a bilateral mastectomy.

Amanda will now also undergo an urgent round of egg freezing as her ovaries have a 50/50 chance of recovering after chemo.

Unfortunately we cannot predict how one copes with chemotherapy and with limited sick leave, funds raised will go towards medical treatment during this time.

As some of you know, the last few years have been extremely difficult for our family.

After losing our beautiful sister Jade at only 40 years of age in July 2020 to triple-negative breast cancer, we found out that 2 of us also carry the BRCA1 gene mutation. BRCA1 gene mutation increases the risk of a carrier developing breast cancer by 65% and ovarian cancer by 40% above the average population risk. Our risk was increased even further due to having an extremely strong family history.

I was diagnosed with left triple-negative DCIS in August 2020, then in August 2022 with right right invasive triple-negative carcinoma requiring egg freezing prior to starting chemotherapy, then mastectomy.

Our beautiful sister, Amanda, has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer (triple-negative DCIS) after her regular yearly MRI scan. Fortunately it has been caught in the very early stages and has not spread. She will require a bilateral mastectomy as the chances of the cancer returning are extremely high. Unfortunately this surgery is not entirely covered by Medicare.

We have set up this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial burdens that come with this type of surgery, and the extended time off required for the recovery. Any contribution, no matter how small, will have a profound impact on Amanda's journey.
