Rally Around the Randall's

Some of you may have heard that recently, Scott and Janet Randall's sons, Stephen, 17 and Owen, 14 were involved in a major head on accident with a school bus.
Owen was airlifted to Egleston hospital with a broken right femur that required surgery to insert a metal rod to hold it in place. He also suffered a broken left tibia, a broken metatarsal in his foot, and two fractures in his left elbow, which they were all casted. He also had a concussion and a lacerated spleen. He has passed all of the concussion testing and his spleen has begun to heal. He had two blood transfusions to replace all of the blood lost. Owen was recently released from Egleston, and will not be able to put any weight on both of his legs for at least a month. After that time, he will then begin physical therapy.
Stephen was taken by ambulance to Kennestone hospital. His right femur was broken in several places in his knee, and had to have a plate and screws installed to keep everything together. He had internal bleeding from his stomach and right colon that the doctors could not get under control for a few days. They had to make a small incision to go in and try to stop the bleeding and still could not find it. Fortunately, they gave him a blood transfusion and plasma to make the blood clot, which stopped the bleeding. He was recently released from Kennestone to go to an inpatient rehabilitation center at CHOA. He has begun to make big strides. He was able to walk for almost 300 feet with a walker. Stephen is determined to make his stay at CHOA as short as possible.
While their injuries were not life-threatening, Stephen and Owen have a very long road ahead of them. Both boys are non-weight bearing on the broken legs for at least 6 weeks. Scott and Janet have turned their living room into a hospital room to help with their rehabilitation. With all of this comes the cost of medical bills, figuring out meals, etc. They also have two other children, Emily, a Sophomore at UGA, and Alaina, 14.
