I have been in my home for over 20 years. I have never missed a mortgage payment or even been late. Yet I could still lose my home in a few months.
The Financial hardship that I am experiencing is with my Condo fees due to job loss after suffering severe health problems. I had to have a lumbar spine surgery---decompression and spinal fusion on my spine. Unfortunately, my job wouldn't hold my position while I recovered enouth to return to work. With the sudden and considerable drop in income I fell behind on my Condo payments.
I am now disabled and received SSI Benefits were I am able to keep up with mortgage payments and my HOA/Condo fees. However, it will not help me catch up on the amount I am still behind in condo fees. Worst of all, the Condo has been unwilling to work with me, refusing any sort of partial payments and telling me they can only accept the full amount.
So unless I come up with $6,000 that I need to pay the Condo debt by October, the Condo will take my home by putting a foreclosure to satisfy a debt. If I am able to come up with the money to pay the amount I can stay in my house. I do have the monthly resource to keep up with both my mortgage and my HOA/Condo fees.
I have never done one of these online fundraiser before--I don't use computer's much. However, friends have encouraged and even helped me to create this page. With only a year left till my daughter finishes college, it would be a strain on her to have to find the funding to live on campus when she could be staying at home her senior year to save the money for tuition. It's happened to lot of people but I never thought it would happen to me. Like many seniors, I never thought I could be at risk of losing my home as long as I kept up with my mortgage payments.
Thank you for your consideration and I'd really appreciate any help you can offer me. You can also help by sharing this page to spread the word.
Many Thanks
Audrey Toliver
