Audrey's Cancer Journey

The unthinkable has happened and our dear sweet Audrey (my niece) has been diagnosed with a rare, 1 in a million, very aggressive cancer. It is called a rhabdoid tumor and currently in her kidney. She has a brain MRI June 6th to see if its in her brain.

Audrey is 4 years old and turns 5 soon. She has to undergo many rounds of intense chemotherapy, have a major surgery where they will remove her kidney and the tumor, followed by more chemotherapy and radiation. This type of cancer is aggressive and malignant.

Studies show that 20% of patients with this type of tumor and cancer will make it up to 5 more years with everything that Audrey will be undergoing. We are praying desperately for a miracle. We all cannot imagine a life without our spirited, fiesty, beautiful, kind and loving Audrey in it. We still can barely wrap our heads around this and there have been many tears shed by all.

Her parents, Ashley and Kent haven't left her side, sleep with her in the hospital when they are admitted, and will be taking off work for the foreseeable future. We have lots of family and friends support and are deeply appreciative of all the love and prayers.

Ashley and Kent (mom and dad) have felt in their hearts that they would like to donate all the funds to https://www.childhoodcancer.ca/ The funds will go towards research for pediatric cancers so that maybe one day, children won't have to suffer from this horrible disease.

Audrey is in the very capable hands of all the Doctors and Nurses at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton.
