Audrey’s Amazing Grace through Tragedies

Audrey Grace Jorgensen is an individual who has survived the absolute unthinkable over the last 3 years. She truly puts the amazing in Amazing Grace. Audrey cherished being a mother who was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. She was the family member and friend you trusted the most and could call to help with anything. Audrey was the glue that held her entire family together. Now, she is facing a life none of us could have imagined.

On March 17, 2019, Audrey became incapacitated due to an anoxic brain injury that requires 24-hour home care. She inexplicably went into cardiac arrest, starving her heart and brain of oxygen. This tragic event left Audrey’s children, who were 17, 16, and 14 at that time, with a burden few of us can imagine. Her eldest son was on the verge of graduating high school, and her youngest child, Mia, was just beginning high school. The children had a strong mother who provided unparalleled love, guidance, and support. After the brain injury, they had one who could no longer walk, feed herself, or communicate in a normal manner. Mia sacrificed her own social life and quickly became the primary caregiver for Audrey. She participated in remote learning, maintained high grades, was a talented visual artist and had a promising future in dentistry. Mia was a teenager with the wisdom, patience, and grace of an individual far beyond her years.

On May 1, 2022, Mia was taken from this earth in a crime that was a shocking news story around the world. She simply wanted to go to prom, but Mia never got the chance to dance with her friends or live a normal teen life. Audrey’s primary caregiver and the daughter that she adored is gone. Audrey still looks for Mia because her injured brain does not allow her to comprehend what took place in the family home fully. Audrey had to vacate it, and her family is moving her into a different home that is not equipped for a severely disabled person.

Audrey has lost so much over the last few years, but her contagious smile and undying spirit inspire everyone to keep going. We could not have endured the loss of Mia without Audrey’s perpetual grace. Our family needs your prayers and support to ensure that Audrey’s home is wheelchair accessible, has a handicapped-accessible bathroom and therapy room, and can accommodate her complex healthcare needs. We do not have the resources to do this on our own and are asking for your help. We are grateful for all the love and support from amazing individuals like you.
