Don protégé
Hi everyone, first of all we would like to express our immense gratitude to our friends, neighbours, family and everybody who contributed to Audrey's Go Fund Me fundraiser.
Unfortunately, as we all know by now beautiful Audrey passed away on the 20th of September last year and never got the full benefit of the treatments we were trying to put in place for her.
The funding was used to pay for Audrey's initial Off Label Drugs assessment and 1st delivery, also the return of Audrey's blood immunotherapy donation, treatments neither of which she could fully benefit from and the balance went towards funeral costs.
Once again on behalf of us all and especially Audrey and Ger we
would like to thank you all for your generosity and help.
Thank you.

Hi all, thank you for taking the time to read the following.
This is Pam, Audrey's sister and here is some background into her story from her husband Ger.
We have set up this GoFundMe for my wife, Audrey.
Where do I begin, back in December 2020 Audrey began feeling pain in her abdomen, back & had bouts of constipation. She presented to her G.P. on 3 separate occasions and eventually was referred to the Beaumont Hospital.
After many tests over five days for appendicitis, gallstones and muscle pain, Audrey was released from hospital but we still did not know what was causing this awful pain.
Unfortunately in July 2021 her lovely Dad Vinny passed away and Audrey put her health issues aside during this difficult grieving period.
In August we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary and renewed our vows with family and friends on a great weekend away.
However at the end of August things took a dramatic turn for the worst, Audrey was in excruitating pain and was rushed to hospital by ambulance with suspected appendicitis and was to undergo a 2 hour keyhole surgery the next morning. We received some devastating news late that night that Audrey had actually had a 9 hour emergency surgery where they removed an 18 inch cyst, her right ovary, part of her colon, her appendix but worst still they found multiple tumours all over her abdomen.
In September our worst fears were realised , Audrey was diagnosed with Stage 4a ovarian cancer as the tumours had travelled to the fluid on her lungs.
Since then Audrey was referred to the Mater Hospital where she has undergone further surgery and has spent half her time in and out of hospital since then.
After undergoing 6 bouts of chemo, there was some light at the end of the tunnel when it looked like the tumours were shrinking and we were informed that Audrey was to undergo further surgery to remove the lining of her stomach & most of Audrey’s remaining reproductive organs.
Unfortunately our hopes and prayers were dashed when only days before the surgery a new scan revealed that the tumours had grown aggressively and the surgery had to be cancelled.
Since then we have been told that all that’s left for Audrey is further chemo treatment and Audrey may have only 6 months to a year to live.
Further complication to this is that Audrey suffers from Trigeminal Neuralgia which effects the nerve endings in her face and some of the chemo could leave Audrey in permanent pain so she is limited as to what chemo she can receive.
At this stage we would like to thank all the staff in the Mater Hospital, they have taken great care of Audrey and for that we will be forever grateful.
In the meantime Audrey is beginning Cell-Based Immunotherapy with Innovita Life, although not a cure, it will help Audrey’s immune system and slow down the cancer. This treatment will be totally funded by Audrey’s brothers & sister.
The reason for the Go Fund Me is, Gemma my sister in law, who is a Professor in the University of Florida has researched new treatments & there is one available in Memorial Sloan Keettering Cancer Centre New York that we believe will really help to prolong Audrey’s life for some years to come. Naturally enough the treatment does not come cheap and we have been informed that the cost could reach over 400,000 euro and that is why we need all your help and charity to get Audrey to New York as soon as possible.
Audrey had Stage 3a Melanoma 12 years ago and fought back & managed to overcome this cancer because of her sheer determination & love for our two daughters who she absolutely adores & she is ready to fight again given the opportunity.
Audrey is such a kind, beautiful & fun loving person with a heart of gold. She’s an amazing Mam & has such a strong & beautiful bond with our two daughters, Ruby 17 who is doing her Leaving Cert Exam this year & Molly 13 who is going into 2nd year in secondary school.
Through all the pain & so many obstacles & dark days over the last year, Aud’s courage & determination always shines through & she is inspirational to us all.
On behalf of myself & Ruby & Molly I would like to thank everyone in advance for reading my message. All donations will be greatly received by you and you will be in our thoughts and prayers forever.
With Sincere Thanks,
Ger Canning
