Hi my name is Audra.

 In 2012 I began having a series of strokes. They started tests to figure out why such a young woman was having strokes. 

Between March 2012 and October of 2019 they finally figured out why.

 I have been diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease or chronic heart failure...  It means the strep throat I had as a child wasn’t treated correctly so it caused heart damage. (Back when I was little, the doctor still made house calls so the doctor was called over.)

The years roll by and I continue to get worse after that first stroke in 2012.

I was diagnosed with buerger's disease (the smoking disease that makes your fingers and toes rot off if you don’t stop smoking) so, I quite smoking. 

2017 presented 2 strokes (February and August) and between the 2 strokes I fell and broke my wrist in April. Ultimately it was the stroke in August of 2017 that put me out of work . 

Doctors did some more tests and discovered that I also have “factor 5 linden blood deficiency” basically it means my blood clots super  easily. So.....with the factor five and the buergers disease... they took a closer look at my heart to discover the damage to my heart valves. Turns out my heart was throwing blood clots causing me to have a total of 5 strokes and several 

My doctors figured out a way to help me get the surgery I desperately needed. 

I have been out of work since August 10, 2017. I have filed for disability and I finally secured an attorney to handle my case.

In the mean time, things continue to be a struggle for my fiancé and I. We were working towards a goal. A nice piece of land and a nice house so we could have plenty of room for the grandbabies to come play. 

All that was cut short and rearranged. 

 

I just got released on April 1st from having open heart surgery and the replacement of 2 valves to metal valves. I haven’t had insurance this whole time so thankfully, programs have helped me so much! 

However, with my fiancé being out of work to be with me at the hospital and at home, our funds have been hit super hard.

 

We have always been hard working folks that wouldn’t ask for help... we’ve always prayed and God had always looked out for us. We aren’t rich by any means. We have 5 grand children with #6 on the way .... I struggled with starting this fundraiser until a friend told me this “sometimes it takes some help from the village”.... well, here I am.  

We could really used some help. I’m in need of basics supplies like a shower chair, a scale to weigh myself daily also a special machine so I can check my INR (blood thinner level) at home. The machine can do it with a finger prick instead of them drawing blood with is very very difficult for staff to do....Some foam wedges so I can sleep in my own bed..currently camped out min the recliner. Other various household needs from toilet paper to laundry detergent is what the moneys would be used for.
