Background

After generously running this campaign for almost a year, my friend has stepped away and I'm now managing this fundraiser directly to help keep me and my 3 ESA kitties housed.

I have spent the last six plus years fighting a disabling migraine condition - sometimes up to 24 migraines in a month - while also managing diabetes and ongoing joint issues.

I am doing everything I can: consulted multiple specialists, tried more than 46 medication combinations. Nothing has helped consistently, which means steady work has been nearly impossible. In addition, every system that was supposed to catch us has said no:

• SSDI appeal has been denied and now awaiting a court hearing

• DSHS cash assistance and Medicaid have been denied

• SNAP food benefits were lost in December 2025

• Retirement savings are almost completely depleted, with a revised 10% tax penalty, just to pay bills

• No family support is available.

While I do earn some modest income through occasional pet sitting, and selling my possessions, it's not enough to keep us housed long term.

Thanks to everyone's kind efforts and generosity, I was able to sign a new lease without current fear of eviction (eviction becomes a permanent black mark on rental history making future renting nearly impossible) for October 2026 - 2027.

Thanks to this, the kitties and I are able to stay together now for this coming year, but the future is very uncertain.

The Past Plan Blew Up
For the last year, I was working toward a specific solution: a quality used travel trailer or RV parked on a leased or friend's private lot and in the Pacific Northwest. It was the best way to lower costs and keep my three ESA cats - Harley, Ducati, and Benelli - with me. They are my family and emotional support animals. It was also necessary to not move the RV to accommodate my current many physical limitations.

Unfortunately, the state and county laws for permanent placement of a RV are incredibly complex and became insurmountable for the private land option.

My Physical Therapist confirmed that my physical limits mean I can't manage regularly moving an RV, it's home maintenance and related tasks , to try to live on free BLM areas due to my permanent joint damages.

The Current Wait and Hope Plan
So for now, while I wait my SSDI hearing and on senior housing lists (2 -5 years), also hoping for section 8 housing wait lists in King county and Seattle to reopen, for now the best plan forward seems to be one where the cats and I stay put in my current city subsidized housing with your help.

The SSDI hearing will happen anytime in the next 6 -19 months.

This modified plan will help avoid any big moving expenses for the moment, and keeping me close to the medical care I need on an ongoing basis, while helping me and my senior ESA kitties stay together.

So here is how is you can help me and my ESA cats stay together and sheltered:

1. Give Financially - our goal is still $50,000 for now to help build a buffer for the next year, unexpected expenses and the possible need to move into a van in the future. Funds are going toward shelter, living expenses for me and the cats, plus a little emergency buffer to buy and move into a van if needed.

2. SHARE - GoFundMe's research shows every share leads to an average $50 donation and those donations really can add up to make a big difference!

It is always a good time to share and it's always appreciated.

Here's what your support goes toward:
$5 = a week of medical wifi
$20 = a month of litter for all three cats
$35 = a case of Fancy Feast for the cats
$100 = a month of migraine medication
$300 = an annual senior kitty exam for one of the cats
$1,200 = a monthly health insurance payment
$1,500 = most monthly medications

Thank you all so much.

I appreciate you sticking to these specific asks. I am not looking for unsolicited medical or financial advice. I am happy to provide more details about my situation to anyone ready to help with specifics. You can email at my Gmail account: help4audie.

Thank you for your support. Thank you for caring. And thank you for being part of our community.

With gratitude,

Audie and The Kits
