Help for medical expenses and recovery

Dear family, friends and generous hearts,

I am Sanaz, the daughter of the remarkable Mehdi Hasani. Since my mother's passing due to the cancer a decade ago, my sister and I have been dedicated to creating a new life that would allow us to support our father. He's not just a father; he's hardworking, funny, helpful, and the kind of loving dad who brings endless smiles and joy to his family and grandkids, no matter the situation.

Even when faced with the most challenging circumstances back in Iran, he made it a priority to be there for the birth of his first grandchild. When he arrived on May 28th, 2023, his presence and the happiness he brought to our family were the most cherished moments of our lives. For the past couple of months, he hasn't shown a hint of tiredness and continues to be the source of happiness for our family.

However, on August 28, 2023, an unforeseen event changed everything. Our beloved father underwent emergency surgery due to a lower bowel rupture. The news shattered us, and we were overwhelmed with grief. Seeing our father lying helpless before us left us feeling helpless ourselves, with nothing to do but pray for his recovery.

Mehdi was supposed to return to Iran on September 3rd, 2023, but now, everything has changed. After a successful surgery, seeing him in the hospital bed connected to machines, unconscious, brought tears and prayers for his recovery. Finally, a glimmer of hope as he opened his eyes for the first time. We are immensely grateful for the doctors and nurses who saved him from this unexpected ordeal.

As our father recovers, battling pain every day, we can still see sadness in his eyes. We bring his grandchild to him, dancing to the tunes he loves, to entertain and rekindle his joyful spirit. We see his smile and hear his laughter again, even though it's harder due to his surgery. Despite the hardships, he fights through it all.

My sister and I have only been in Canada for seven years, adapting to a new culture, and with average low incomes, we never anticipated the financial burden that has fallen upon us. The bills, totaling 7k for the surgeons and 18k for the hospital, brought fears and stressed to our lives. We've already emptied our savings to bring our father here to meet his grandchild, and we'd do it all over again just to see him healthy.

During these trying times, we are seeking love and support in every possible way. The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will go towards covering medical expenses and providing the emotional support that our father needs now more than ever.
