OUR STORY

For 75 years the Alano Club of Vancouver has played a key role in helping Vancouver residents begin and sustain their path to recovery from addiction. Every week, we welcome over 1000 people seeking recovery meetings, social events, and compassionate support. We offer a safe, comforting space to pursue the journey to recovery. In addition to traditional Recovery Support Meetings, we provide a unique range of services such as Art Therapy, Meditation, Recovery Coaching, Peer Support, and a Work Experience Program. With a holistic, wellness-based approach, we create an environment that eases the path forward.

If connection is the antidote to addiction, at the Alano, there’s a warm community of like-minded individuals, all on their way to improving their lives.

As a non-profit recovery hub, we don’t do this vital work alone. We depend on the generosity of those in the community who care enough to donate towards saving these lives.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

The pandemic has had a devastating effect on our ability to raise funds. We’ve been unable to hold our crucial fundraisers, and sales revenue has dropped 75%. Yet during this time, the need for our services has increased immeasurably. The effects of the stress, uncertainty and isolation have reached unsustainable levels. Recent numbers indicate at least 6 people per day in BC die from a tainted drug supply. The challenges of addiction aren’t only faced by the individual, but also by families – making our Family Support Services critical.

WHAT WE NEED

To replace lost revenue, we need to raise $75,000 by year end. This will enable us to continue providing current services, and add new programs such as Smart Recovery, Yoga, and a food and nutrition program in 2023.

DIAMONDS in a ROUGH PATCH

Diamonds are created at rock bottom. Under an indescribable amount of pressure. We believe everyone walking through our doors at rock bottom has potential to sparkle - if given access to the right tools. Recovery is hard. In this, our diamond anniversary year, we need your help to continue providing our community of rough diamonds the tools to shine, supporting their chances for success, and letting them know they are worth it.

At the Alano, this loving care occurs daily, with wonderful moments of true humanity, connection, and community. It is heard regularly from those who say “The Alano saved my life.”
