Hello fellow pony lovers,
Lois please don't rouse on me for starting this up. But girl you don't have to do it alone!
We are a small but strong community of Highland pony enthusiasts down here in Oz. Besides the fact that Blaen is your baby Lois, he is also a beacon of opportunity to this amazing, rare and critically endangered breed we are all so passionate about. If he survives this cruel illness, his importance to the gene pool or even just as an individual is immeasurable.
A little about Lois...
First and foremost my friend. But before that she was an inspiration to me. A true Scottish lass that came a travellin down in oz with a backpack and a wealth of knowledge of our beloved ponies. With expertise straight from her late Majesty's stables, she has been a huge asset to the breeds future here and a pillar of support to all the breeders and enthusiasts that reside.
It's been a rough couple of years for Lois, and with respect, (as she has no idea I'm doing this) so I must be careful with my words.
To our sunburnt country Lois came, unshackled. She threw caution to the wind and became a mother. She is now doing a marvellous job of that alone. Then she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder. She is a runner and runs her ass off every chance she gets raising awareness for this cause. She works day and night to grow her skill set in equine nursing. She never hesitates when I ask for help with random pony demonstrations (days long) or simple farm sitting. That is a contradiction in terms if you've ever been to my farm. She is the horse hand I can call on to drop everything and be me and better.
Through all of this she has never forgotten her ponies. They are her, and she is them.
So when she was awarded the most beautiful and majestic silver colt out of her outstanding mare Eaton Park Annie and by our imported stallion Gillean of Liosmor we were, putting it lightly, over the moon! We watched him thrive for 3 weeks, when all of a sudden he was hit with a fever like a freight train. Due to no fault of anyone's but a nasty and resilient ground dwelling bacteria, that was positively thriving in our recent dry and dusty conditions, poor little Blaen contracted this super bug which abscessed in his navel and travelled to his lungs causing pneumonia.
Thanks to Lois' immediate intervention he made it to hospital but his condition is still critical. My mother, Sue Jarman founder of Rosemarkie Highland pony stud and myself have pledged to Lois that we will do all we can financially to spare no expense for this valuable lad. But as the days tick over so do the dollars and I am asking, pride aside how valuable is Auchallater Blaen to our highland community? Please if you think you may fancy a Blaen baby in the future or you simply love and want to support the breed, donate now. All funds will go to Blaens' medical costs, which have already stretched Lois and us to limits. His value to the breed in the future, if he makes it will surpass this cost many times over, but right now we are focusing on right now.
Thankyou for reading.
