12/18/24 update- Thursday Clinic Day Update️
Aubrey woke up happy and sassy and ready to attend her Clinic today. Upon arrival she was greeted with some Christmas presents from her nurses and Child Life! Which made her morning! They are so good to us and truly are our second family.
She got her chemo treatments, along with her usual Vincristine, she also got Calaspargase. This is the chemo she got once in inpatient in our first weeks of being hospitalized and once during the start of this cycle, however the side effects usually don’t show until the second and third time being administered. Aubrey was closely monitored during and after this chemo with no side effects, luckily. The Benadryl let her take a nice relaxing nap while she had her treatments. She might experience some nausea with this one but hopefully some zofran will help her with that and it’s only mild.
Aubrey’s immune is so low now that it isn’t on the charts anymore which means it’s crucial that Aubrey remains contact free from the outside world. Meaning she will only be in contact with people in her home and when she goes to her dads and appointments. During the holidays is always hard but it’s extremely important that she’s home and not out risking an illness which will hospitalize us. She’ll continue to be on an antibiotic to help her body fight off illness but it’s all about keeping minimal contact as we can. Her health will always come first. There will be plenty of time to visit family when she’s healthier and it’s safe to do so.
Her blood and platelet counts are very low and we are experiencing some bruising but unfortunately not low even to give a transfusion just yet. We will be going Monday morning for blood work to check to see if they dropped low enough to get a transfusion to help with some of the issues.
Fingers crossed it will be a good week for us️
A message from Aubrey's mother, Samantha.
On September 17th, We received a call that will forever change our outlook on life. As a parent, it’s one of your biggest fears. Hearing the words “Your child has cancer”, will forever haunt us. The results of blood work for what we thought was a cold turned out to be my biggest nightmare. Leukemia? A million things raced thru my mind. This can’t be real. Why my baby girl? No child should ever have to deal with this.
Aubrey is the strongest little girl I know. She’s been so sick for two weeks and still managed to find time to smile, be silly and still give her sass even though she was in intense pain. She’s a fighter and we will get through this. You have a whole tribe behind you, Aubs.
Aubrey is my 3 year old sweet beautiful niece who is full of sass & silliness. This is a total nightmare to be living. Aubrey has been admitted to GMC danville since 9-17-24 where she will remain for unknown amount of time. Today on 9-19, Aubrey had surgery to get her chemo port in and had her first treatment. I am making this go fund me to help raise money to help take the financial burden off my sister as she will be off work to care for her daughter and the last thing she should have to worry about is money. Please donate any amount you're able to. It is appreciated more than you know. Please keep Aubrey, my sister, Aubrey's father (mike) and the rest of our family in your thoughts and prayers. A benefit will be held sometime soon- more to come. #AubreysArmy
Update as of 10-17-24 from Samantha (Aubrey's mother)
Aubrey Update️
ONE MONTH. It’s been one month of over thinking, so many tears shed and sleepless nights. It’s been mentally and emotionally draining for this momma. It’s been one month since the heart breaking words of “Your daughter has cancer”. However, it’s also been one month of learning the power of a community, the skills/knowledge of the hospital staff and the support of our friends/family who have helped Aubrey, Bentley and I through this. A whole month of struggles we overcame. We don’t just have a village behind us, we have a whole Army.
Aubrey underwent another surgery for one of many spinal taps today. She also had a bone marrow biopsy done as well as her Chemotherapy treatment. She’s been such a brave and strong little girl. I knew she was before this but this certainly proves it. She woke up happy and was excited to go get a Happy Meal. It’s going to be a long road but we got this my girl. I appreciate everyone more than you know. Thank you all for helping me to be home with my baby and alleviate some of the financial burden for this momma
UPDATE as of 10-31-24
Aubrey Update️
Last Thursday, we were supposed to start our next phase of treatment but we had a minor setback of her levels being too low to perform surgery. Unfortunately this is something her body naturally needed to increase. After a week off, we were able to start the next phase of treatment today.
Aubrey had surgery for her spinal tap first thing this morning. Everything went as planned. We then spent the afternoon at the clinic where she received 3 different Chemo medicines. The phase of treatment we are in right now along with new chemo medicine will unfortunately cause Aubrey to lose her hair. Im not looking forward to my baby’s beautiful curls falling out, but this is only a bump in the road to recovery, right? I keep telling myself her hair will grow back with ALL those beautiful curlies!
This momma will also now have to administer chemo shots at home 3x a week as well as her weekly Thursday Chemo Clinics. Also not looking forward to this. But like everything else. We shall get through this, together.
I appreciate everyone more than you know. Thank you all so so much for helping me to be home with my baby and alleviate some of the financial burden while I’m out of work to care for my girlie.
✨Aubrey’s #AubreysArmy Benefit will be November 3rd 12-5 at the Kulpmont Winery! Please come support my precious baby girl, get some yummy food and have get chances to win some awesome baskets and Giftcards!️
