Hello, my name is Risa Song and I am a close friend of Sammy and Tony. I’ve decided to set up this fundraising page to help our dear friends during this difficult and painful time. As many of you may know, their 2-year-old daughter Aubrey has been seriously ill. On April 11th, Aubrey suffered a seizure and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors first diagnosed her with febrile seizures, but after 2 failed discharges back home, her seizures continued, and she was admitted for further testing. After a long week of seizures, medications, tests, and multiple theories, doctors finally diagnosed Aubrey with a rare autoimmune disease. This disease attacks the body’s brain and causes a halt to most major functions including the ability to walk, speak and eat. Currently, Aubrey remains in the hospital and has been receiving treatment under the care of multiple specialists. Once she has been stabilized, she will be moved to HSC Pediatric Center located in Washington, D.C. This hospital has access to more physicians and facilities that are familiar with this fairly new and rare disease. This is where she will be receiving her countless therapy and treatments. Her rehabilitation journey will be long and is expected to take up to 2 years of learning how to do everything all over again. Doctors are positive that with the right treatment plan, Aubrey will one day regain all her memory and return to her spunky and curious self. To be able to provide the care that Aubrey needs, Sammy and Tony have been taking turns sleeping at the hospital while also working and taking care of their newborn daughter, Raelyn. Once Aubrey is moved to a further hospital, the challenges will be even greater. There will be more expenses including short term housing, transportation, and of course the rising amount of medical bills. I would love to help and be able to take some financial pressure off their already overwhelming situation.
