Aubrey's Spinal Surgery

Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Lance Cohorst. Some of you know me but alot of you don't. I'm married to Aubrey whom most of you know.

I really hate to ask people to fund something in todays world because it seems like everyone is always asking for something. But here goes. 8 years ago a young man was texting and driving and ran into me and Aubrey sending us off the road, jackknifing the trailer we were pulling and throwing the off-road vehicle we were pulling flying. We came to a stop when my wife's (Aubrey's) (passenger)side of the truck met a concrete and brick state of Texas sign. Some of you might remember it. The accident caused Aubrey to have to have a Bi-Level Cervical fusion (Levels C4-5 and C5-6) in her neck with multiple other injuries. Rather than rant about the young man or the doctor who did the surgery, I'm here to say 8 years later, her fusion has shifted and the disc above it (C3-4) is completely blown compressing her spinal cord and causing a back up of spinal fluid. The disc below (C6-7) is 75% bulged also.
She has been dealing with the pain and side effects of this for awhile now. After a lot of research she went to a specialist in California. Dr. Robert Bray (Neurologist) and his entire staff have truly been a God Send!

There is a device called the Mobi-C, an artificial disc like thing that can fix her. Aubrey's doctor believes this to be her only viable option to regain stability and keep some range of motion in her neck.
Insurance won't pay for the procedure or the hardware, because even though it's FDA approved and well respected and doctors say it's the only option, they (insurance) says there is no evidence it will reduce the pain and that it is investigational. Her doctor and ourselves have filed multiple appeals, peer to peer requests and have been battling this for a long time. The doctor WILL NOT do another fusion because the discs above and below are blown, she would have no range of motion and the discs above and below another fusion won't hold. Aubrey will be in a wheel chair looking at paralysis if she doesn't have this surgery ASAP.
Knowing this, the insurance company cares not! So, the only option is to call upon the generosity and LOVE of friends and family and try to pay for the procedure (self funding).
Like most people I know, we don't have $45,000 laying around. So, I am asking Go fund me for help. Since Aubrey's fusion has shifted, the pain has worsened and is affecting and damaging nerves and motor functions like her hands (she can't feel them and she drops things), digestive tract, etc. Aubrey has delt with the pain to her breaking point. She hides it behind a smile and just struggles thru, but it has gotten to where it can't be hidden anymore. Ainsley prays so hard everyday for healing and can't wait for her Momma to be better. Aubrey has been and still is so many peoples rock.

So, Ainsley and I ask that everyone who reads this will pray about it, and if you can, please help with Go Fund Me. We are eternally grateful if you are able and willing. If you are unable we understand and ask that you will take a minute and flood the heavens with prayers for Aubrey and share this request with people you know.
We Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and may God bless you all.
