Aubrey Interrupted

Donation protected
On February 6th, my sister, Aubrey Adler, had a riding accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractured skull, and broken foot. She was rushed to the hospital, unresponsive. Over the last two and a half weeks Aubrey has amazed her doctors and nurses with her progress and yesterday I watched her take her first steps. However, recovery from injuries like this take time and there is no set timeline.

If you know Aubrey you know she is tenacious, kind, and intuitive. She has been riding and training horses her entire life and runs her own business, Lazarus Equestrian. Her students, both horse and human, love her. She has trained throughout the greater Seattle area specializing in young horses, challenging cases, and returning riders. At dressage shows she was recognizable as the one with the 11.2hh pony doing 3rd level dressage. Aubrey is also a practical professional whose bills are paid and insurances are up to date. She has a contingency fund to cover icy winter and smoky summer weeks when she cannot work but this is beyond the scope of that fund. As far as we can tell this was a fluke accident and Aubrey was wearing a helmet as she always does when riding. Aubrey owns two horses and co-owns two more with me, who are boarded with partial care. We shared the chores of the partial care board. The money from this fund will go directly to the care for the horses for the next six months including;

  • Board
  • Grain and supplements
  • Farrier care
  • Routine vet care
  • Medications
  • Someone to help with the care of the horses

If there are any funds beyond what we need for the horses all will go towards medical expenses. We know that those bills will begin to come in but for now we are taking each day at a time and focusing on the known needs. Right now that is making sure her horses are cared for. Aubrey, Cydney (our mom) and I have been privileged to be a part of the greater equine community in this area for many years. We have been so blessed by the overflow of concern and kind wishes and practical gifts lavished on us. Now we are reaching out to you with this very practical need and are so very grateful for any help you can provide.
