Aubrey, born with CHD and Pulmonary Hypertension
Donation protected
Aubrey was born on July 23rd, 2021 and at first appeared to be a healthy bub. Within 24hrs there were concerns about her breathing and Aubrey was rushed to the Royal Children’s Hospital. She has been there ever since. At only 3 days old, tiny Aubrey had to endure open heart surgery. She has a repaired supracardiac obstructed TAPVD which won't be considered fixed, ever. CHD is forever and constantly needs to be watched but for now it's doing what it needs to. She also has Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension which at the moment is the big long term battle as her lungs don't work on their own and the treatment takes a long time with many ups and downs. Again, something that will never be considered cured, just treated. Both of these things have low survival rate and are rarely seen together. The doctors are amazed daily at how well she is doing, however Glenn and Kiara have been told on multiple occasions to prepare for the worst. Yet every time they think she won’t make another 24hrs, Aubrey fights back harder to stay. Aubrey hasn’t yet met her two sisters who are only 2 and 4, or any of her other family. Even with the treatments working, Aubrey is facing months in hospital before she will be strong enough for the doctors to even consider her being able to go home. Glenn has had to return to work as they need the income as well as look after their two older girls, getting them to childcare and all other parental duties as Kiara has to stay at he hospital. On weekends they swap and Kiara comes home and Glenn goes into the hospital. With Aubrey having procedures and complications sometimes Glenn has had to leave work or can’t work or a few days putting a strain on their income and also on Glenn’s job. Plans to go back to work for Kiara have been put on hold indefinitely as Aubrey will need full time care when she does go home and will not be able to go to childcare as was the plan. It is unknown at the moment when or if Kiara will be able to return to work . Life is stressful with a precious baby fighting for life daily. Then adding in raising two little girls at home who don’t understand why they don’t have Mummy and Daddy like they used to and why they haven’t met their sister, and not knowing what the future holds. As a concerned grandparent (Glenn's mum and Kiara's mother-in-law), my niece Lisa suggested GoFundMe as a platform to try and raise some funds to help ease the financial strain so Glenn and Kiara can concentrate on spending their time with all their girls as they so deserve. As a family we will contribute all we can to assist them, however, we know the costs for them will be significant. All funds raised will be used for ongoing medical and equipment expenses for Aubrey as she will need high care when she comes home. She will also need ongoing special care lifelong. Every donation is so greatly appreciated. Thank you.
