Help Common Ground Reopen as a Cooperative!

The workers of Common Ground are reopening the recently shuttered cafe as a worker-owned Cooperative in partnership with the Baltimore Roundtable for Economic Democracy and Seed Commons, and we need your help to make it happen! Saving our place of work and space for community has been a challenging task, but with your support, Common Ground can be fully operated by the workers themselves and continue to be a staple of the Hampden neighborhood in Baltimore.

Who We Are:

We are the passionate baristas, bakers, and staff of Common Ground; a coffee shop and bakery located in Baltimore, Maryland that had operated for over 25 years before it was suddenly closed down at the beginning of July. Since the closure of the cafe, we have been hard at work organizing with the amazing support of our community to re-open under collective ownership. For many of us, Common Ground was and will continue to be our long-time place of employment where we have built a strong community among ourselves and our neighbors.

Why We Need Your Support Now:

We believe that the workers should own the business that we run, but that requires startup funds that are often very difficult for low-wage workers to acquire on our own. Donations give us the initial cash we need to get our business running without incurring more debt through loans or outside investors. That is why we need your financial support to make Common Ground Cooperative a reality!
