On April 8th, 2022 my brother Jason Maddox was involved in an ATV accident. He flipped the ATV and the tie down bar on the back of the ATV broke his femur. At that point, he was transported by EMS to the hospital where he was taken straight to surgery. He received multiple rods & pins in his thigh bone to set the fracture. Jason was in the hospital 7 days upon the initial treatment. After that he was released to my care.
His recovery has been slow to say the least. Last week, at his first follow up, the doctor found multiple blood clots around his knee and there as been no reduction in the swelling to his entire left leg. Obviously, blood clots are extremely dangerous and can be fatal. Jason is being treated for the clots where he had another brief hospital stay, then discharged to my care once again.
I previously mentioned that there has been no reduction in the swelling to his entire left leg. The swelling is, in part, due to the blood clots in his leg. As of today, May 2nd, 2022, I am currently waiting in the day surgery center at Memorial Health where Jason is getting a drainage tube surgically installed into his thigh.
When this accident first happened Jason was expected to be down 4-6 weeks before he could go back to light duty at his job, HVAC Technician. Due to all the complications his recovery time has been extended to 12-16 weeks with that number being the recovery pre today’s surgery.
I have take on the role of Jason’s caretaker. My brother is a single man who lives in a 2nd floor apartment in Statesboro, Ga. Obviously there is no way for him to climb stairs much less crawl around in attic to fix air conditioning units. I am truly thankful that I am in a position to help him heal. He has health insurance where he has already met his deductible.
What Jason does NOT have is temporary disability insurance! His savings has almost been depleted paying his medical deductible & his household bills for April & now May.
I am attempting to raise money so he won’t lose his apartment & truck. We have already temporarily suspended utility services to his apartment in an effort to save money but there are just some things that just can not be suspended. If you find it in your heart to give please do so. My brother has come a LONG way in his life and this is the type of set back that could ruin him.
I will be managing this fund & pay his bills throughout this whole ordeal. I love you all and please share this fund raising effort.
