Hi, my name is Paul, and I live in Glenwood Iowa. I am fundraising for my friend Kyle Nakamoto. Kyle was recently told that the federal government was taking away his right to earn a living through his small business. Kyle owns and operates "Straight Shooter Armory" in Glenwood, IA. Kyle is an FFL holder (Federal Firearms License) which gives him the ability to sell firearms to law-abiding citizens.
I have known Kyle since he was approximately 7 years old, and he is a great young man. Kyle is a College-educated, self-made businessman, who gives back to his community more than most. Kyle often hosts fundraiser events for those in need in our community, and now the tables are turned.
Kyle was recently inspected and then informed by the ATF that he violated some minor "paperwork" issues, and therefore they have determined that he is no longer going to be able to hold his FFL credentials.
Kyle did not break the law. Kyle did not sell any firearms to prohibited persons. Kyle did not sell any prohibited firearms or any other prohibited devices. Kyle missed a few "forced boxes" on the lengthy ATF form. And yes, that is a violation according to the ATF rules. However in the 8 years that Kyle has held his FFL, he has not had any formal training from the ATF, nor had any ATF inspectors ever enter his shop during those 8 years to see if Kyle was in compliance with the "rules" on how to fill out the forms. And when they found the "violations", there was no remedial training offered, rather they told him he would most likely be violated and his FFL would be taken away.
So in an attempt to keep his business and his livelihood, Kyle has decided to fight back and appeal the decision. This appeal will be lengthy and expensive. So this is why Kyle needs your help.
