Everybody needs a hero, Atticus is my hero!
Have you met this amazing boy? If so, you know how he is a bundle of pure joy wrapped up in a handsome little body! He has touched so many lives that anyone who hasn't met him is truly missing out on something special!
Last July, Atticus underwent surgery to remove an oral tumor called Acanthomatous ameloblastoma. During this surgery he had his lower right jaw removed from the third molar to the midline. Atticus had to learn how to eat again. Which was definitely a learning experience for both Atticus and Marcos. Since Atticus could no longer eat food from a regular bowl, Marcos now spoon feeds Atticus for all his meals. The love that these two share is amazing! They are definitely the best parts of each others worlds!
Tonight we heard some life changing news for our love, Atticus. You see, Atticus had already been back for his 1 year check up from his oral tumor removal. All seemed to check out good, but Marcos still felt as though something wasn't right with our sweet boy. So tonight we took Atticus to ASVG in Tustin for their after hours care. Dr. Sarah Beaman, did more bloodwork, xrays, and an ultrasound to try to get to the bottom of what is happening with Atti.
Dr. Beaman confirmed that Atticus has a splenic mass and is bleeding in his abdomen that requires surgery to remove it! Dr. Beaman is monitoring him overnight to see if the bleeding starts to clot. In the morning Dr. Cambridge will assess him and then proceed with doing surgery to remove Atti's spleen.
With multiple vet visits, bloodwork, xrays, and an ultrasound this is adding up very quickly for Marcos and Atticus. Tonight Dr. Beaman estimated his emergency care, possible blood transfusion, and surgery to remove the mass from $5000 -$9000. We will know more tomorrow when the surgeon assesses him.
If you have the ability to donate to Atticus, anything would be greatly appreciated.
* If you would like you can call the vet directly and tell them that you would like to make a direct donation to Atticus' surgery and they will take your card info down. Just let them know you would like to make a donation for Atticus Saldana's care.
