Atticus and Sebastian's Baby Fund!
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We are very excited to announce that we are trying to have a baby!!! A few months ago, we decided to start the process of creating embryos in the hopes of having a baby. After some rough spots and a ton of medicine, we are excited and grateful to say we have five healthy frozen embryos as of Nov 20th.
We feel extremely blessed to have been able to get to this point, something that as a trans couple we were not sure we'd be able to do. This is not an easy process; it is hard emotionally, physically, and financially. This process is extremely costly, which is why we are going public with this Go Fund Me.
We are doing everything we can to raise funds on our own, but we also need some assistance. This process can easily cost over $150,000 and we are aiming to raise just a small portion of that amount. Sebastian and I both work full-time but have also applied to part-time jobs to help us cover the costs. We will also be applying for loans and grants. If you are able to donate, we’d appreciate it. If not, consider sharing this Go Fund Me and help us spread the word so we can find a gestational carrier.
Atticus has been on HRT for nine years and a few years ago had a hysterectomy but decided to keep his ovaries with the hope that creating embryos together might be a possibility. When Atticus started hormones he was told he would not be able to have children, but science and medicine have come a long way since then and here we are with our embryos, excited to start this process. Sebastian was diagnosed as infertile at the start of this process, but the clinic was still able to work with her to create our healthy embryos.
To start this process, Atticus stopped his HRT and was off hormones for many months, which was difficult for him. He had to take many different, expensive medications to prep his body for the egg retrieval. It was a very uncomfortable time for him because the process and medications brought him a lot of gender dysphoria and anxiety.
This process has brought us both a lot of gender dysphoria and discomfort but fortunately we reached this point of starting the next phase. The next steps involve finding a gestational carrier (who will share no genetic link to the baby), a lawyer, health insurance for the carrier, and more. Funding this process includes fees, carrier compensation, medical bills, etc.
We are appreciative to anyone that has taken the time to read this, and we are extremely grateful for anyone able to donate towards our journey to parenthood. We feel incredibly grateful, blessed, and lucky to be on this path and we can’t wait to meet our little one and to introduce them to all of you.
From our small family – Thank you.
