Hi, my name is Aiden Ortega and I'm 11 years old.

 

In January 2020 I was nominated by my teacher to attend the NYLF Pathways to STEM program. The program takes place in the Summer. Well, due to COVID I was not able to attend. Fast forward 2 years later, I found out yesterday that I am now able to attend the program!!!!! I have the option to fundraise by selling a bunch of stuff that you probably don't want to buy, or I have the option to create a Go Fund Me account and fundraise this way. I figured this was the easier way to go.

 

Currently, I have the option to attend the program at either the University of Berkeley or I can attend at the Occidental College in Los Angeles. The program will be for 6 days, and I will be able to stay on the campus of where I decide to attend. The money I end up raising will go towards my room & board, all meals, simulations, curriculum & materials.

 

During the program I will be participating in engineering pathway, working with robots, and building a foundation in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer programing. I will also be a part of a CSI pathway where I can apply math, science skills, and chemistry concepts to unlock clues in an actual case. There is also a medicine pathway where the students will role-play as medical interns and we will examine the circulatory system, the heart, and we will perform a dissection (not sure what that is) and we will get to diagnose a patient!

 

For 6 days straight, I will have a full day. Starting at 730am and ending at 9 pm. The entire day will be filled with group meetings, activities, challenges, team time, and hall meetings...and hopefully eating somewhere in between those times.

 

Please help me raise $2500 in the next 2 weeks (by March 26, 2022) so that I can attend this exciting program! I will be extremely grateful for your contribution, and at the same time, smarter for attending this program
