Hey everyone! My name is Kate - a 3rd year University of Birmingham nursing student specialising in paediatrics. During a placement, I had the privilege to work on an Oncology ward, where I saw the impact that Teenage cancer trust makes to the lives of older children and teens with cancer, as well as their families. Teenage Cancer trust works to provide support, resources and aid to families and teens undergoing cancer treatment, and helps facilitate the work of Nurse Specialists. The impact they made on a daily basis inspired me, and I am so grateful for the support they provide our patients. So, I have saved up and decided to volunteer in the local hospital for 4 weeks and then am attempting to walk up and down Mount Kilimanjaro (tallest point in Africa!!) and raise some money for this amazing charity. I have funded the entire trip myself, so any donations will be sent directly to the charity.
