Teacher Attacked by Student Left Brain Damaged

Donation protected
This is my mom, and this isn’t just an unfortunate story, it’s our entire lives. My mom was attacked by one of her students who knocked her unconscious, then repeatedly struck her head, face and body. He left her on the floor and asked repeatedly if he had killed her and if she was dead. Our lives have changed completely. Mom worked at a college and at our middle school. She was always working and taking care of everyone around her. When we would go to bed, my mom would continue working her online college classes, as well as writing for a local paper. My mom has two Masters Degrees, and now she needs help with basic skills. Her license has been taken several times due to the head injury (balance, vision and seizures). It is just me and her, and I now attend college out of state. The stress of not being allowed to work anymore, provide for us, and trying to figure out how she will help put me through college (yes, I work) is making her condition worse.
Pender County Schools have likened her job (as a teacher) to that of a prison guard, stating that teachers assume the risk of any/all injuries when they accept the position. She suffers seizures from a brain tumor that developed because of the trauma associated with blunt force trauma to the head stemming from the assault from her student. ⚠️They have now located a bulging artery near the tumor that they are monitoring, also caused by the repeated blunt force to her head. Please visit   to understand more. It is an unbelievable story. Jane Morris did a phenomenal job of capturing the events. She is the only person my mom has spoken to thus far.  ⚠️⚠️Please see this article. Please.⚠️⚠️ These are pictures of me and my mom, and my mom as a teacher with her kids that love her. That still love her. She changed lives.  Teacher now suffers with long term brain injury. School district responds, “She knew the consequences of the job.”   This has been created to work in tandem with the article by Jane Morris.
