Attacked on a NYC subway

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Adam, I'm a college student here in New York City, studying electrical engineering. I'm able to do that because my amazing wife, Jadelyn, works very hard at an amazing job in Times Square. As has been reported, the subways since COVID have gotten worse and worse in terms of safety, to the point where she doesn't ever ride home at night by herself- I meet her after her shift and we ride home together. This Wednesday, the fifteenth of June, Jadelyn was attacked. On her ride into work, during early afternoon, on a full train, someone decided that her bright pink, rainbow for Pride work uniform made her unacceptable and started throwing punches, attempting to steal her phone from her hand and sunglasses from her head. This individual beat Jadelyn down from her seat to the floor, continuing to land blows until fellow straphangers intervened and pulled the attacker off.  They also made sure the attacker didn't make it off the train with her stuff while the attacker and an accomplice made their escape to the next car, striking a bystander who came to Jadelyn’s aid in the process. We've lived in New York City for nine years, so we know how to ride the subway safely. Sitting calmly and minding your business works very well until you're the victim of a hate crime on your way to work. So Jadelyn was taken by ambulance to Presbyterian hospital, where she was checked to see how severe her head trauma was. By sheer luck, she didn't suffer brain damage. Also by sheer luck, I was able to reschedule the final exam I had later that afternoon and join her at the hospital, so she didn't have to face everyting alone, except the ten-minute wait for paramedics and hour-long wait for NYPD to reach her on the Fulton St. platform. Since I'm in college full-time studying an intense STEM major, Jadelyn is our sole breadwinner, so we're asking for help with the upcoming medical bills and the lost income from her shifts this weekend. Could you work a public-facing job in a tourist mecca after being beaten black and blue on the subway? Anything donated will be used to pay the ambulance and ER bills, which are sure to be pretty extreme. You'll be helping to keep the roof over the head and food on the table for Jadelyn, me, and our 13-year-old daughter Alaria. Thank you for your kindness and consideration, we'll be keeping everyone posted as the situation progresses.
