In the early morning hours of May 10th, my friend AT was nearly killed in a car crash by a vehicle running through a red light at 50 mph. The driver fled the scene. Luckily, AT survived, but their hand injuries have put them out of work indefinitely. They are currently seeking funds to sustain their basic needs until they are able to work again.
Furthermore, they are seeking funds for therapy and medical services due to the trauma of the accident itself and the racism they faced from the police and hospital staff as a result of the accident. At the crime scene, police refused to take AT to the hospital until they called and received a tow for their car, which resulted in worsening injuries. Then at the hospital, AT was ignored by hospital staff for hours, despite attempts to advocate for themself and their needs. This is not the kind of treatment they deserved after nearly losing their life in a serious accident.
