Michaels Medical Fund

Hi.
My Name is Scott Guenther.
For most of you that will initially receive this link, you will all know who I am. For those whom you share it with, as we all work together to help my dear friend, I will share a little about why I feel led to create this fund  to assist one of the most dear and special friends I have.

My very close and dear friend is the Charming guy you see in this photo. Michael Young.

Michael and I have been friends and each others confidant, for many years. We have experienced thru our friendship,  some of lifes highest points, and some pretty bleak and low ones as well. He has been the friend who I always knew without a doubt, had my back. No questions asked. He would be there for me.

Not too many people can be lucky enough in life to  actually find that one friend that will not abandon you in your times of need, and times when mabe you were not so loveable yourself.

Michael and his Sweetheart of over 30 years, Jill,
Share the love of their 2 beautiful daughters Alexandria, and Arianna.

Michael and I have been involved with many construction ventures together. From something as simple as siding houses on Bainbridge  Island, to full Tenant Improvement build outs of restaurants.

We both have always prided ourselves on our "whatever it takes" attitude, and our willingness to get our hands dirty. Never feeling that either of us was above any job. Just do what needs to be done.

Mid February, Michael took a fall of a balcony, and fell 10 feet to the concrete below striking the floor with his head. I was merely minutes away, when I received the call that my friend was " lying in a pool of blood and not moving or responding"
Michael was rushed to the Trauma unit at Harbor View hospital in Seattle, and after a series of CAT scans, a long list of tests, specialists, and what was a long and frightening night, he was transfered to ICU.

He had fractured his skull, most of the fascial bones on one side of his face, broken 5 ribs, fractured his wrist, badly lacerated his hand, and most concerning, he had an Epidural Hematoma. A Tramatic Brain Injury.

After 5 days in the ICU, and another 5 days in accute care, Michael was finally released, and we promptly flew Michael and Jill,  home to Denver, where Michael has begun what will be a long and slow process of healing and recovery.

Michael is home now, and with all the love and support of his family around him. But the enormous costs of his hospital stay, and the continuing mounting medical costs are just a small part of the financial challenges that my dear friend faces.

Michael is a amazingly tenacious, and strong man, and there is no doubt in my mind that ultimately, he will fully recover, to the vibrant and active friend I know and love.

However, as anyone who has had even had something as simple as stitches in the ER, you can only imagine what the staggering cost are, that were growing minute by minute as Michael lay there in the hospital.

As he had always been the major bread winner in the family, and now he is faced with the inability to work in any fashion for 12-16 weeks.  Just the household expenses alone, will quickly mount in addition to the medical bills.

The funds that are raised thru this site will be used to help pay the accumulated and ongoing medical costs, as well as help to replace Michaels income for the time that he is unable to work.  My hope and prayer is that thru this fund, we can relieve my friend of the stress of wondering how he is going to take care of his family, he will be able to focus more on his healing process, and be better all the sooner for it.

The need for the funds is immediate.
The medical and daily bills of course have no sympathy, and come streaming in whether you can pay them or not.

I cannot begin to express how much this fund will mean to Michael and his family, not to mention , how much it will mean to me.
Knowing full well, that without a doubt, Michael would be doing the very same for me.

I wish I was one of those people blessed with the ability to just write a check, and make all the worry and stress of this go away.
But I am not.
I,  like most of you, get up and put in a hard day, every day, providing for the hopes and dreams of our families.

I would be so deeply grateful for any assistance, be it big or small. It is the collective efforts of a caring group, that will make all the difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story here.

I love this man.
I love his family.

Thank you for helping me to help him.
