Hello, my name is Nicole and I'm raising money to help pay for my dog Atlas's vet bills. Two days before Thanksgiving, he was diagnosed with a large tumor on his spleen. Radiology showed it had ruptured, and he needed an emergency splenectomy. The spleen was removed in addition to another small mass on his intestine. This was a big surgery, but Atlas made it through. He spent 4 days in the hospital. His veterinarian did an amazing job, and Atlas was given VIP treatment. They even let me have visits to help him during his recovery time. So far, our vet bill total is $12,236.00.
Atlas is home now, recovering nicely but on limited duty. This time has been very emotional for us. We found out from the biopsy that Atlas has an aggressive cancer that’s terminal. I’m still trying to process the fact that my best friend may only have months to live. For many of you that know me personally, you know this is going to be a tough journey. I’m trying to stay positive and I meet with the vet next week to discuss treatment.
About Atlas:
I adopted Atlas in 2017 from our local shelter where I was volunteering. It was love at first sight when he came in, and I knew he had to be mine. Atlas was special from the start, and once he became a part of our family, his true personality began to shine.
Atlas was only 6 weeks old when he was adopted, and in these short 7 years, he has helped so many people and shelter animals. At 12 months old, he became a Registered Therapy Dog working with high school and college students. Atlas made the best fur-therapist any kid could ask for.
During this time, I could see Atlas had such a chill personality and loved other animals, so I thought it would be a great idea to start bringing home shelter animals in need to foster. This is when he became foster dad extraordinaire. From puppies, kittens, baby birds, and even reptiles, Atlas helped me nurture each and every one of them back to health. Because of Atlas, each kitten was able to be adopted into homes with other dogs.
If I was granted one wish. I would wish that my best friend could live forever. Words can’t express the amount of joy and happiness Atlas has brought me and so many others. I feel so incredibly lucky to have Atlas with me in this lifetime, I’m going to make sure that what time he has left is spent enjoying all his favorite things. Atlas means the world to me, he has been there through thick and thin. Now it’s time for me to be there for him.
Thank you so much for your support.
Love,
Nicole and Atlas
