Atlas Vet fund for immune disorder treatments
Hello!
I'm at the end of my savings and very desperate. My dog has a possible immune issue or an extremely serious allergy to something. Since he was small he would constantly have issues with skin irritations and hot spots. He's 7 years old and so far it has been managed as best I can. Recently, around November he began to get very frequent attacks of hot spots. Suddenly around March he began to get extremely bad attacks of blisters, hot spots and very intense infections on his back, stomach and feet.
I have been to the vet nearly every 2 weeks since then getting checks and tests. We have changed his food to a more hypoallergenic one, he is taking specialized shampoo baths, constantly on antibiotics and parasite medications. Since I am out of work I have had to use my savings during this time and have spent well over 2k on treatment that is doing nothing. My dog is my world and to see him suffer and be unable to pay for a DMV and specialist is upsetting. The appointment alone is 400 dollars and the test is around 200, that's without considering treatment.
He needs a specific dermatologist test to find out if this is allergies or an underlying condition. He is currently on prednisone and it is NOT working at all. I've expended my savings and I have no one to turn to or ask because my close family is not in a good financial standing.
The vet I'm currently dealing with is doing nothing and only a specialist will help. His current vet is just taking my money at this point and constantly putting Atlas on antibiotics. I can't pay for things anymore because i'm just paying for my dog. I don't want to ask to borrow money because I know I won't be able to repay the individual, so donation is my last option.
I've set the amount to 2.5k to consider the following:
Cost of initial appointment
Cost of initial test
Cost of transport (it's about a 20 minute ride there and back in the animal safe taxi)
Cost of other testing
Cost of possible medications
Cost of future treatment and exams
I hope this reaches someone. I love my dog so much and it's gotten to a point where I'm worried I'll have to give my best friend away.
