Atlas And Meredith Need Your Help After Emergency

Hello,
This is a story about a kind, beautiful, and "old soul" named Atlas. Atlas is a big, gorgeous, 13-year-old horse currently residing at Piping Rock Equestrian Center in Truckee, CA. Atlas is owned by Meredith Mason, a young nursing student who works evenings at the local grocery store to make sure Atlas has the best a horse could ask for.
As someone who is a new member of the horse community, I have been amazed at how close Meredith and Atlas are and what a close bond they share together (just look at the pictures!) Atlas is truly one of the stars at the barn, and you can see it with how gentle and kind he is with other horses, people, and especially children.
On May 8, 2025, Atlas had a medical emergency. He became extremely ill with colic, and everyone was afraid he was not going to make it. Meredith jumped into action, got Atlas in a trailer, and towed him to an emergency equine veterinarian outside of Sacramento. Due to wonderful medical care and round-the-clock support from Meredith, Atlas was able to pull through and is now back at the barn recuperating.
That said, vet bills, especially the emergency kind, are off the charts expensive. The total for two days of emergency care, tests, X-rays, labs, etc., was just shy of $8K. There will also be follow-up vet visits and expensive medication.
Meredith, as Atlas' partner, did what she had to do to make sure Atlas got the immediate help he needed. I am hoping we can all chip in and help this wonderful nursing student with these hefty bills and not have her saddled with debt.
Meredith and Atlas are a wonderful duo, who both individually and as a team brighten the world of those around them. I hope we can all show both of them a little love and support back.
Thank you!
